Returns

We stand by our collection of artists and galleries and are confident you will be satisfied with your purchase. Therefore, while other online galleries only offer a 7 to 14-day return policy, Modern World Art offers our customers a full 21 days for returns. Once your artwork has been confirmed delivered, you have 21 calendar days from the date of delivery to contact us for a return or exchange. Please send an email to support@modernworldart.com to initiate this process.

We examine all returns on a case-by-case basis in order to determine who is responsible for paying return costs (including customs) required to deliver the artwork back to the artist or gallery. Generally, if we determine that the artwork was accurately described on our website (dimensions, materials used, artist signature, etc.) and the buyer is returning the artwork as a result of buyer's remorse, then the collector is responsible for return costs. Our friendly customer service agents are eager to work with you to ensure 100% satisfaction. We truly value our customers and strive to create the best buying experience possible.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging or equivalent. Shipping insurance must be included to cover and costs associated with loss, theft, or damage during transit.

To complete your return, a receipt or proof of purchase must be included in the return.

Items not eligible for return

Any artwork not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to original sender or packaging error.
Any item where the return process was initiated more than 21 days after artwork was originally delivered to buyer.

Refunds (if applicable)

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that your returned item was received. We will also notify you of the approval status of your refund.
If you are approved, your refund will be processed and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment within 14 days.

Late or missing refunds (if applicable)

If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account once again.
Then contact your credit card company, as it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
Next, contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Sale items (if applicable)

Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded.

Exchanges (if applicable)

We are happy to work with you if you feel that you purchased the wrong piece of art. All conditions of the Return Policy must be met as stated above. Exchanges must be initiated within 21 days of confirmed delivery. Buyer bears the cost of shipping including customs charges if applicable.

Return Shipping

To return your item, you should mail your artwork to the original sender. Modern World Art MUST be contacted prior to shipping an item back to the sender. Items shipped back to the sender for purposes of an exchange or refund without first contacting Modern World Art will cause this Return Policy to be null and void, and Modern World Art will not be responsible in any way to deal with your return. Please contact us at: support@modernworldart.com to ensure the accuracy of the return shipping address.

Originally, you will be responsible for paying for shipping costs to return an item. Depending on the reason for return, shipping may also be refunded, provided the cost of shipping was based on a similar delivery rate originally used by the sender. For example, if the sender used a 10 to 14-day delivery service, the item must be shipped back using a similar rate, and not an overnight delivery rate which will only be partially refunded. Examples of shipping costs that may be refunded include (but are not limited to):
1) The artwork arrived damaged, and the damage occurred during shipping due to bonafide sender error or poor packaging.
2) The artist or gallery significantly misrepresented the artwork (dimensions, framing, materials used, wrong photograph, etc.).

All returned artwork MUST include a traceable shipping service (tracking number) and shipping insurance. Without a confirmed tracking number, we cannot guarantee that the artist or gallery will receive your returned item.
